About this Page and FAQ

About this Page

Welcome to Liana’s Paperdoll Blog! I draw clothes from my life, what I’m reading, or what I’m currently interested in, and I try to post one new outfit each day. I hope you enjoy my work!

FAQ

Q. What do you use to draw the dolls and clothes?
A. I use Prismacolor pencils (regular and Verithin) on a Strathmore sketchpad, and do the resizing, tabs and any edits in Photoshop.

Q. Will you draw __________ for me?
A. I usually will if I like the idea, but be patient with me and don’t be offended if it takes a while for the drawing to happen. Linking to me from your blog or website may speed up the process, too. ;)

Q. How long have you been drawing paperdolls?
A. I started around 1996, and I started my first paper doll website, Liana’s Paperdoll Boutique, in December 1998, which went until May 2000. I’ve been posting Boutique outfits intermittently on the current paperdoll blog. I did another Paperdoll Blog from June to November 2004, and although I started this version in February 2007, I started drawing again a year later, February 2008.

Q. Will you draw men or children?
A. Probably not, because I don’t find them very interesting. Anyways, I’m so bad at drawing men, you wouldn’t want me to anyways.

Q. Can I use your paperdolls for some project?
A. It depends, ask me first. I won’t agree to anyone else creating any sort of online dress-up game with them, though, because I might want to do something like that myself.

Q. I posted a comment, and it didn’t show up. Where is it?
A. It may have been flagged as spam; I get so much comment spam that it’s not worth reading through to make sure no real comments get deleted. At this time comments aren’t monitored, so if it doesn’t show up, try again or e-mail me.

Q. What’s the best way of contacting you?
A. Feel free to e-mail me at .

Note: Mrs. Richard Bennett Lloyd dress -
the dress is actually a very pale mauve in the classical style, with a fringed sash tied around
the waist. The gown is set off with sky blue
sandals making a bright note of positive color.
In the painting she is etching her new married name on the tree, the acutal pose is taken from
    Raphael’s drawing of Adam Tempted.

Your drawings are wonderful! My granddaughter’s name is Liana also. We love ladybugs–we call her lianabug. It would be nice to see your interpretation of a ladybug costume.

  • By Liana, October 25, 2008 @ 7:33 pm

Joette: Thank you for the information! From the pictures I saw I never would have guessed mauve, I wish I could see it. I’ll link this to the post so everyone can see it.

Sharon: Thank you so much! I always like hearing about other Lianas, too. I tried to do a cute ladybug costume for today, I hope you both like it!

  • By Liana, November 14, 2008 @ 8:59 pm

    Hi Brodie,
Thanks for your requests, I’ll keep them in mind! And yeah, the Phantom dress is my creation based on the idea of a “Star Princess” gown and the black mask Christine wears in the book. Wouldn’t mind seeing it on the big screen though ;)

Liana, you are amazing!!! That blue one you drew, georgous!!! Where do you get you’re ideas??

  • By Liana, November 22, 2008 @ 7:31 pm

    Hi Brodie,
I’ve never seen the movie that one is in (the Seven Year Itch, right?) so maybe I’ll get it out from the library sometime…
I’m glad you like the Wizard of Oz dress, that’s one of my favorites too, since my favorite color is green. If you make it for your prom I want pictures ;)
And I’m glad you like the blue one too! I look at a lot of pictures of dresses, especially for the historical ones, and I just pay attention to details on things like movies and whatnot. Plus, I’ve been drawing paper dolls for a long time, so it’s just kind of practice :)

  • By Brodie, November 23, 2008 @ 7:34 am

I really love your paperdolls. I discovered you website by accident but now I visit it every day. I am 12 and every Sunday I get the 7 paperdolls from the previous week, print them and cut them out during the week as I wait for the new dresses/clothes. Are you doing a Christmas Series? I have no requests except that you keep up your fantastic work. My ideas are Christmas series and maybe some fairy outfits. Thankyou, Lisa

  • By Brodie, November 27, 2008 @ 4:10 am

  • By Lisa, November 28, 2008 @ 1:43 am

You’re lucky being able to go to ALL those countries. We travel a bit but I would love to go to all those countries. I was born in the UK but we now live in Australia. Do you celebrate Thanksgiving? We don’t, but if you do Happy Thanksgiving!

  • By Lisa, November 28, 2008 @ 4:12 am

Oh i didn’t realise it was thanksgivig, Happy Thanksgiving Liana

  • By Lisa, November 29, 2008 @ 5:51 pm

Summer Heights High is one of my favourite programs too. Toby is a real student just like the Prinicipal who is actually the principal. I would really like to visit the U.K, mainly because the U.K makes so many good shows like Red Dwarf and Fawlty Towers.

  • By Brodie, November 30, 2008 @ 5:32 am

OMG!! I love fawlty towers soooo much!! Me and one of my best mates Tom say everyday, MANWELL!! I also love the mighty boosh, monty pithons flying circus, little britain and………….MOCK THE WEEK!! oohhhh and Never Mind the buzzcocks

  • By Lisa, December 1, 2008 @ 1:52 am

I LOVE THE MIGHTY BOOSH!!! IT IS MY FAVOURITE (ALONG WITH RED DWARF AND FAWLTY TOWERS) BUT ITS SO HARD TO FIND HERE! IT WAS ON A CHANNEL CALLED SBS BUT THEY REPLACED IT WITH THE WORST SHOW EVER (SNIFFLE)!!! MONTY PYTHON IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES TOO WE HAVE THEIR BOX SET! OMG! OMG!

  • By Lisa, December 1, 2008 @ 2:00 am

P.S I looked up Mock the Week, It is hilarious! I’ve never heard of it until today but it is sooo funny! Lucky you and all your good British Comedy…

  • By Brodie, December 2, 2008 @ 5:09 pm

OMG!!We have soooooo much in common!

  • By Lisa, December 3, 2008 @ 1:20 am

OMG!!! I’m a bit weirded out about all the similarities between us aswell. ;-) Anyway one show you might like is the Chasers War On Everthing. You may have heard about them when they broke the security barricade at the APEC summit in Sydney. They got passed all the million dollars security disguised as a Canadian Convoy! Try Youtube to find them if you want.

  • By Brodie, December 4, 2008 @ 3:59 pm

DONT MENTION THE WAR!!I’m a bit weird altogther! It would be even weirder if you had a boyfriend with ginger hair!(i love ginger, i wish my hair was)! BTW, my favourite films are: The Labrynth, MAMMA MIA, The Phantom Of The Opera, Moulin Rouge, Titanic, Cats and i really wanna see Chicago!

  • By Lisa, December 5, 2008 @ 6:31 am

Okay, NO WAR. I don’t HATE it too. If your hair isn’t ginger what colour is is it? BTW, my favourite films are Labrynth (jinx), Cats and probably the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. What is your favourite band? I LOVE THE WOMBATS!!! They are a UK band and only toured once or twice in Australia. I MISSED BOTH TOURS!!! I also love The Presets but they probably aren’t as common in the UK. Some of my other favourites are Lady Gaga and The Ting Tings! Another British band! So much talent from one country…
P.S The Phantom of the Opera was based on MY great great aunt! I think her name was Christine Nilson.

  • By Brodie, December 6, 2008 @ 11:50 am

My hair is brunet, but slightly dark aubron(nearly ginger!). I love ABBA, the ting tings,Madness, Queen…80’s music!!What colour is your hair?? And i have big blue eyes and very long eyelashes!!I love musicals, i went to see Fame, it was brilliant! P.S whats the capital of Australia??

  • By Brodie, December 6, 2008 @ 1:44 pm

I hope liana isn’t ofened that we’re using her website to chat with eachother :S:S

  • By Lisa, December 6, 2008 @ 6:53 pm

Firstly, I have dark brown hair, nearly black and blue eyes and also have quite long eyelashes. We havn’t had Fame in Australia yet, we don’t get many musicals here, mainly Australian ones like Wicked and Priscilla (except Billy Elliot and Spamalot) but they play for about a year. The capital of Australia is Canberra but I’m from Melbourne. Lastly, sorry to Liana if this is offending her using her site like this so I linked a new site of mine today so we can chat somewhere else if you want. Just say so in you’re next message, I dont mind either way but Liana might…

  • By Lisa, December 6, 2008 @ 7:13 pm

Here’s the website, either click on my name to got there.

  • By Lisa, December 9, 2008 @ 1:12 am

Okay the page absouloutely FREAKED OUT! I will try again, but this might have to do for now

  • By Brodie, December 9, 2008 @ 1:14 pm

I dont have a login, it doesn’t work anyway

  • By Lisa, December 10, 2008 @ 5:11 am

Okay sorry about that but the site ABSOULUTELY FREAKED out. It doesn’t normaly happen…
I’m sure we can find another way to chat if Liana doesn’t like this. By the way, are you in high school yet? I start high school in 2009.
Are you from the north of south of the UK? We live down south but we are going north for Christmas so I probably wont be able to post messages betweeen around the 24 to the ???. I will post a message as soon as I get back but I might be able to go to an internet cafe or something. Anyway I don’t leave for a week so still heaps of time, sort of.

  • By Brodie, December 11, 2008 @ 2:46 pm

Yer, im in year 8!! I actually live in east anglia, norfolk. I hope you enjoy it

  • By Liana, December 11, 2008 @ 6:40 pm

I don’t mind, though I like that you have another page to chat on (and I like the page URL of course! ;) ) It’s an interesting look into the minds of paper doll fans, after all!

  • By Lisa, December 12, 2008 @ 4:00 am

Thanks Liana ;-) It isn’t working just yet but I will get around to fixing it (I think the URL is the least we can do). I hope you had a good holiday though I am DYING to see some new clothes for Sylvia and Iris. By the way Brodie how does that work? I’m only in year six (I’ll be in Year 7 in 09′)? ;-)

  • By Brodie, December 12, 2008 @ 12:38 pm

I DUNNO!! maybe its different in Australlia, where did you live before you moved?

  • By Lisa, December 12, 2008 @ 6:26 pm

We lived in Springfield (or Brentwood I’m not sure), a small town near Chelmsford pretty close to London. It probably is different in Australia, or is it the UK thats different? ;-)
    !lol!

  • By Brodie, December 13, 2008 @ 9:05 am

Here we have an infant school:yrs reseption, 1 and 2, then junior school: yrs 3,4,5 and 6, then you go to high school:yrs 7,8,9,10 and 11, after that you go to 6form/collage until you’re 18 then you can get a job or go to uni

  • By Brodie, December 13, 2008 @ 9:05 am

    in reception you’re 4/5, yr 1 5/6…etc

  • By Lisa, December 14, 2008 @ 4:01 am

In Australia you’re 3/4 yrs old in kindergarten (not really school, like crache or daycare), then when you’re in Prep (the first year of Primary School) you’re supposed to be 5 (turning six), Grade 1 you’re 6 yrs old and it goes like that until Year 7 you go to High School. High School goes from years 7 to 12 but you can drop out in Year 10 and start a trade or apprenticeship. Then after that you can go to uni or Tafe (trade school).

  • By Brodie, December 14, 2008 @ 6:43 am

  • By Lisa, December 15, 2008 @ 2:13 am

Christmas is GREAT! Though in Aus its Summer, not winter so we go to the beach and stuff where as you get to make snowmen, have snowball fights, you get snow AND Summer! We don’t get snow, only on mountains. And the the time now is actually 5:14 (the clock is probably American time). Liana, I LOVE the elf she is awsome!!!

  • By Lisa, December 15, 2008 @ 2:17 am

  • By Lisa, December 17, 2008 @ 3:27 am

  • By Lisa, December 19, 2008 @ 7:34 pm

  • By Brodie, December 20, 2008 @ 8:41 am

LOL, my boyfriend is the same, I specialise in drawing flowers and turning my best friend heather into a merimaid and me into a gypsy princess(inspired my liana’s drawings of course!)

  • By Brodie, December 20, 2008 @ 11:37 am

I love those dresses so much i cant decide which 1 is my favourite, its between the pruple 1 and the yellow 1

  • By Brodie, December 20, 2008 @ 11:37 am

if you made an orange 1 or green or gold then one of those would be my favourite

  • By Lisa, December 20, 2008 @ 6:32 pm

green would be nice. I also like purple and gold together, but dark purple. Today is probably the last day I can post for a while, we are going away for three weeks and unless I can find an internet cafe…
NO MORE PAPERDOLLS FOR THREE WEEKS!!!!! :-(

  • By Liana, December 20, 2008 @ 6:44 pm

Brodie: Natalie likes orange, Iliane likes dark green, Mariel likes bright yellow and Joy likes light green, so keep watching :)

Lisa, have a good vacation! You’ll have three weeks of paperdolls waiting for you, right? :)

  • By Brodie, December 21, 2008 @ 9:33 am

    Enjoy your holiday

  • By Brodie, December 21, 2008 @ 5:52 pm

Im so inspired by all of your work liana that one of my best friens hannah and i(since its cristmas), have decided that im the Ghost of the christmas present, she is the ghost of the christmas past and her vodoo doll that she bought from rock collection is the ghost of the christmas yet to come! Ive designed outfits for us and we came up the names to!!

  • By Brodie, December 21, 2008 @ 5:52 pm

    *friends

  • By Brodie, December 22, 2008 @ 1:53 pm

    Liana, whats your favourite dress?

  • By Marla, January 1, 2009 @ 4:03 pm

Your site has inspired me to pick up drawing again. I drew paper dolls from gradeschool until I was nearly 30, then petered out (I’m 55). Today, Jan.1 09, I picked up a pencil again and attempted a figure. It came out better than I expected. I don’t know what I’ll do with any dolls I eventually produce, but drawing was very satisfying. thanks for the inspiration!

  • By Liana, January 1, 2009 @ 4:14 pm

Marla, that’s wonderful! That’s one of the things about this blog that’s most personally satisfying, there are a few other people that have been inspired to do paper dolls of their own, and that makes me really happy. I wish you luck with your drawing!

Brodie, sorry for not answering earlier… Hm, my favorite dress on the site is the bride mermaid… my favorite dress I ever owned was a green long-sleeved one I had in high school. ;)

  • By Lisa, January 2, 2009 @ 2:59 am

Finally found an internet cafe. Yay! I have waited sooo long and LOVE the new dresses! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! I really like the ideas of the monthly gown and cannot wait the nine months for Semptember’s gown!
Brodie: I am not beleiving this! I have just meet a girl called Hannah who lives around your area! She has come to Australia for the holidays! I love all Liana’s gowns (too hard to choose a fav.) but I think the Mermaid Monday Silver Gown stands out amongst my favourites.
Liana: Thanks for your wishes, I REALLY hope that your holidays are as good as mine are. One week until be my usual regular visitor again (I’m not sure if I can wait that long!). Sorry I am writing soo much but I’m not sure about the next time I can post! Thankyou for all the entertainment I have got from you paperdolls! (PS: Is further improvment in your drawings possible?!?) ;-)

  • By Brodie, January 2, 2009 @ 6:30 am

    What’s her last name?

  • By Liana, January 2, 2009 @ 6:38 am

Thanks Lisa, but there’s plenty of room for improvement ;) Anyways, please don’t post her last name here (sorry Brodie)

  • By Lisa, January 5, 2009 @ 12:17 am

Back Again! Love the Masqurade Dress!
Liana, what is that awsome picture when you click ‘nomnomnomicom’ (is that enough nom’s) at joechip.net? It’s puzzled me for ages! I forgot to ask last time! I keep forgeting what I was going to say when I get a computer! Even now I know I’m forgeting something!

  • By Liana, January 5, 2009 @ 10:05 am

Lisa, it’s from a friend of my husband’s who scans and posts pictures from old public domain books. More images are available on his Flickr stream: http://flickr.com/photos/vaguery/sets/72157602916068570/

My husband recommends this set of “How Animals Talk” http://flickr.com/photos/vaguery/2201024387/in/set-72157602916068570/
and possibly of interest to paper doll fans (I keep meaning to do one from this set): http://flickr.com/photos/vaguery/2883007908/in/set-72157602916068570/

  • By Lindsey york, January 7, 2009 @ 9:31 pm

Your site is awsome! my cousin is named Liana too.

  • By Lisa, January 8, 2009 @ 1:56 am

Thanks Liana. They are really great pictures and really interesting. I am leaving on tomorrow and I have a two day car trip back home so I can’t post for two days. Until then and thanks for answering my question. I can finally sleep at night… ;-)

  • By Lisa, January 10, 2009 @ 6:25 am

Yay, I’m back!!! It’s quite late but mum was on the internet so I jumped on. We finished the long, long, long, long drive but I cut out a few paperdolls from a while ago and looked back through my box of paperdolls. In response to the poll I print them on cardboard, cut out the clothes and try them on (Sylvia and Iris of course, but I wish I could fit into them), show mum and then put it ‘the box’ sitting on the prized spot on my desk with the others. Then, when I have spare time I pour through them. I havn’t cut out the brown headed boutique doll’s clothes yet.

  • By Brodie, January 11, 2009 @ 2:57 pm

Liana, I think you should do an 80’s outfit, like something from “FAME2 or “Back To The 80’s”! My theature company is doing back to the 80’s for our production this year

  • By Brodie, January 11, 2009 @ 2:57 pm

    Did you have fun??

  • By Lisa, January 11, 2009 @ 5:03 pm

I had a really good holidays and but I still wish it snowed at Christmas! We have seven weeks ‘end of year’ holidays now, so when we go back to school we will be in then next year level. Is that the same with you, or is this only the middle-of-the-school-year?
What productions have you done before?
Where do you perform them, locally or your area or your school?

  • By Brodie, January 13, 2009 @ 1:02 pm

Local area”DOSYTCO”, Middle of the school year

  • By Lisa, January 13, 2009 @ 3:04 pm

Oh, okay. Three weeks until new school year starts for us. Our closest theatre group is in Melbourne which is an hour away from us.

  • By Brodie, January 15, 2009 @ 1:37 pm

I reli want to go stage school!

  • By Lisa, January 15, 2009 @ 8:17 pm

That would be an awsome career! But I CAN’T sing so I could/would never do musicals.
Liana, when did you start drawing paperdolls? I looked at your old page and I think its really, good, though if I had of saw your older page first I couldn’t have believed your drawings could get any better but (if that makes sense)! If your old drawings where excellent what do these improved drwaings rate as? (I’m not trying to say that your old ones where bad, but these ones are even better!)
Do you have a favourite movie genre?
What type of video games do you like?

  • By Lisa, January 16, 2009 @ 5:23 am

Liana, I have finally decided to pick up a pencil and try my hand at drawing. After all, you can’t get better if you dont even have a go. I also wanted to say thankyou, I think that the ’service’ you provide is really genourous. You are giving a fantasctic service for the enjoyment for yourself and everyone lucky enough to discover your site.

  • By Noel, January 18, 2009 @ 9:27 pm

Liana, I just stumbled upon your site from a Google image search. Your dresses are gorgeous! It makes me want to snap out my sewing machine and attack the mailman in search of Masquerade Ball invitations. Someday I hope a pattern-maker finds you so I can be a real-life paper doll! Thank you so much for sharing – I’m sharing your site with all of my friends!

  • By Liana, January 19, 2009 @ 2:39 pm

Lindsey: Thanks :) I always like hearing about other Lianas…

Brodie: I might :) I don’t know too much about 80s fashion besides the sorts of things everyone knows. I’ll look into that…

Lisa: I’m excited that you’re going to do some drawing! Good luck :D I started drawing paperdolls in middle school, and the Boutique ones are from high school, so about nine or ten years ago for me. I don’t mean to be down on my own work, but a lot of the time the techniques I use are essentially the same as what I did for the old Boutique clothes — I just have more patience now, I think is the main difference.

Noel, thank you so much! :D

  • By Brodie, January 19, 2009 @ 3:41 pm

    Masquerade!!CAN COME!I have 3 masks, one is hand-made!

  • By Lisa, January 19, 2009 @ 5:33 pm

Well the drawings turned out alright but they are very basic. Thanks heaps for you advice. My sister and I spent all night trying to perfect dresses and gowns but we still need a lot more practice.
Brodie: I am in a group where we dress up in medieval clothes and have feasts and masquerade balls. There’s ranks like baron and baroness or king and queen, and you get awards like for participating in competions. There’s also tournaments with ’swords’ (wooden sticks wrapped in duct-tape and foam but they are still the right lenghth and weigh the right amount) and proper armour!
Noel: Good luck! I would love to make some of Liana’s gowns. Mum and my sister are experts at sowing so I’ll see if we might be able to modify a pattern… ;-)

  • By Lisa, January 20, 2009 @ 5:14 pm

Wow! Thats all I can say about the new masquerade dress. I love it!

  • By Kitty, January 21, 2009 @ 4:11 pm

I love your dresses. I found you out by google. i was wondering if you can make more wedding dresses?

  • By Brodie, January 24, 2009 @ 1:28 pm

That would be a brilliant idea!! A wedding dress with fariy wings attachted!

  • By Lisa, January 25, 2009 @ 4:16 am

I completley agree! With emboidered patterns of flowers and things. Like a white dress, with white sparkly beads which you can’t see until you move.

Saw an add on TV for a country artist called Taylor Swift and I thought her dress looked awfully familiar. It’s one of my favourites on your blog. Your drawing of it looks identical!

My first day of secondary school tomorrow! Our 7 week holidays are finally over!!!

  • By Brodie, February 1, 2009 @ 10:13 am

Finally!!! I could do with a few weeks off!

  • By Lisa, February 2, 2009 @ 2:21 am

Believe me, after seven weeks it begins to look like the light at the end of the tunnel, of boredom.

  • By Lisa, February 10, 2009 @ 12:15 am

Fire HOT! They came relitively close but we are okay.

  • By Liana, February 10, 2009 @ 9:21 am

Wow, Lisa, I’m so glad that you and your family are OK! Please take care and stay safe, that must be horrible out there…

  • By Lisa, February 13, 2009 @ 1:07 am

Thankyou Liana! Nearby towns have been turned to ashes but they went around our town. It’s not all that bad out here now, very smokey but they aren’t close any more. Thanks again for your good wishes!

  • By Brodie, February 13, 2009 @ 1:08 pm

Yerr i’m also glad you’re ok, it must be really terrifying

  • By Lisa, February 13, 2009 @ 5:36 pm

    Thankyou Brodie!

  • By Bella, February 14, 2009 @ 12:54 pm

    Hey Liana..
Your drawings are really great! I began to drew again after I found your site, thanks for that! For the inspiration!
What about Twilight or some dolls drawings?
I wish you a speedy recovery!

    Bella

  • By Liana, February 14, 2009 @ 1:20 pm

    Hey Bella,
Thanks for the well wishes, and I’m glad my drawings were inspiring :D
I did my version of Bella’s prom dress, which I bet you’ve seen (I keep meaning to rescan it, it came out looking different than the original), and I’m thinking that I’d like to do her wedding dress too — it’d be fun to design, looking at 1910s gowns as models, and yeah, the Bella prom dress is a popular keyword for people finding my site already, and I’m not above shameless bids for popularity ;) Since I’ve been out of it for a while, I feel like the dresses I want to draw are overflowing… I bet you’ll see that one soon.

  • By Lisa, February 14, 2009 @ 6:16 pm

Twilight dresses/clothes would be awsome, though Inara’s dress is GOURGEOUS!
P.S The chances of me revealing ANYTHING about any movie, TV Show or game are very slim seeing that the U.S and U.K get everything about six months prior to us. ;-)

  • By Lisa, February 15, 2009 @ 3:28 pm

    Get Well Soon Liana!

  • By Brodie, February 18, 2009 @ 3:38 am

I love the heavens masquerade dress !! It’s beautiful and i really like the orange and purple mermaid one, it looks like a gypsy princess accept a mermaid!!

  • By Brodie, February 18, 2009 @ 3:40 am

    Get well soon

  • By Lisa, February 19, 2009 @ 1:16 am

I love the wiki dress idea! I was just thinking that a colouring oppurtunity dress would be good, but this is better!

  • By Lisa, February 20, 2009 @ 1:10 am

When the wiki dress it was dinousaur based, then was a blue masqurade dress and now it is a harvest dress!

  • By Laura, March 3, 2009 @ 10:21 pm

Love your site! I visit it a lot to see the new outfits. I found out about it searching for drawings of Final Fantasy costumes in Google, and I saw your dresses…they are so pretty!! I draw a lot of outfits between classes (and during), they’re not as good as yours but I think seeing you outfits have made my drawings better. You’re very talented and I can’t wait to see what else you draw!

  • By Lisa, March 10, 2009 @ 2:55 am

Laura, did you get a picture for you post? I can’t work it out! Good luck with your drawings aswell!

  • By Luke, March 18, 2009 @ 10:53 am

    Liana,
I saw your post on the Uchita Woodblock Printing Co. when I was researching my father’s set of 4. They are by Eiichi Kotozuka titled “The Four Seasons of Nikko” I’ll be putting them on ebay later today. Individual titles are; (1)The Sambutsudo Temple in Spring, (2)The Yomeimon Gate in Summer, (3) Lake Chuzenjiko in Autumn, (4)The Shinkyo Bridge in Winter. My ebay ID is sun–fun if you want to check them out.

  • By Laura, April 2, 2009 @ 11:23 am

Lisa, I’m not sure how I did it, but when I created an account in wordpress it gave me the option of putting up a picture. Good luck!

  • By Lisa, April 3, 2009 @ 6:50 pm

Thanks Laura! I will go and find out more…

  • By Lisa, April 10, 2009 @ 4:19 am

Liana, nice tutorial. I think you can probably delete some of the non-paperdoll related post’s (my bad) if you want/can, it’s getting a bit crowded! HAPPY EASTER! :-D

It’s been a while since you’ve posted. Given the tragic deaths of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, I was wondering if you could design something in the images of their signature outfits.

  • By Toni, July 14, 2009 @ 3:42 pm

Hi! I loooove your work! So here is my idea… there is a book, East: by Edith Pattou. Its a fantasy based on a fairytale and it has the most exquisite ballgowns described in it! The trolls in it are pretty cool too. Here’s the link to preview the book: http://www.amazon.com/East-Edith-Pattou/dp/0152045635#reader

  • By Amanda, July 25, 2009 @ 12:24 am

Liana, what a wonderful talent you have. I too found your site be accident in looking up things for my daughters 6th birthday mermaid party. What joy it was to find your mermaid outfits. LOVE THEM. So does my daughter Sarah. By any chance will you be doing a JULY and AUGUST dress, they are both my daughter’s birth months. Also a pink mermaid ? Love your work. Hope to hear from you or see more work soon.

  • By Liana, August 8, 2009 @ 7:33 pm

Hi everyone, sorry I haven’t responded to comments lately! Toni, I’ll check out that book, thanks :) Amanda, hope your daughter’s party went well! I’m going to try to catch up on the birth dresses at least before the year is out… sad huh….

  • By Colleen, August 23, 2009 @ 5:12 pm

Hi! I just found your blog last night and I went through the whole thing all the way back to 2007. Everything you draw is so gorgeous! I love the stories you write for each dress and mermaid too.

So, may I suggest a dress or two? I think Susan or the White Witch’s gowns from the new Chronicles of Narnia movies would be great for paper-dolling. The blue one Susan wore at the end of Prince Caspian especially. I think it’s called the Farewell dress.

  • By Liana, August 26, 2009 @ 6:22 pm

Hi Colleen, thanks so much! All the way back to 2007, that’s a lot of reading…
I haven’t seen Prince Caspian, but I’ve seen some other drawings based on the movie, so it looks like it’s a good paperdolling subject. I just put it on reserve at the library :)

  • By Caroline, September 2, 2009 @ 7:58 pm

I just found your blog today. All of your drawings are gorgeous! I wish I had your talent. I’m planning on printing some of your designs on card stock and giving them to my eight-year old niece. I’m sure she will have some ideas of costumes she will want once she starts playing with them.

  • By Dawn, September 21, 2009 @ 10:40 pm

Looking for a pattern for the 1940’s pink/cream chiffon evening gown from damn good vintage – my daughter loves it and wants to make it for prom.

    Any idea’s?

    Thank you.

    Dawn

  • By Sami, October 4, 2009 @ 4:33 pm

I am officially hooked on your paperdolls. My sister too :) Thought/suggestion, maybe you could have a version of the dolls with their basic first outfit, and one without, just the doll? Because there are awesomely weird people like me and my sister who glue the outfits on the dolls and then paste them in notebooks. We’re just that cool :)

  • By Brook, October 6, 2009 @ 6:13 pm

Hi i have never printed out the outfits but i love to look at them. I think your elf clothes are cool.Don’t you love random things you see on the internet.

  • By Twizzler, October 9, 2009 @ 4:58 pm

Hi Liana! I found your website a few days ago while searching for mermaids. I think your dresses are the coolest thing ever. My mom says I’m adicted. I think I am. I have printed them all out and hung them on my wall. All my friends think they are so cool. I e-mailed pictures of your dresses and your web link to all my friends.

  • By Liana, October 10, 2009 @ 10:06 pm

    Hi everyone :)
Caroline, hope your niece enjoys them!

Dawn, I don’t really do any sewing so I couldn’t say… Have you tried contacting the gal behind Damn Good Vintage? It was a dress originally, but she might have some idea about what kind of pattern might be useful…

Sami, that sounds fun :) I’m going to do some site maintenance stuff tomorrow, so I’ll put up a plain version of Ivy, and of Sylvia and Iris if I get really ambitious.

    Brook, thank you :D

Twizzler, wow, thanks for the site promotion :) Glad you like it so much!

  • By CindyKay, October 17, 2009 @ 4:53 am

I love your designs, and I just had to post about this series!

I absolutely adore the shades of pink, rose, and purple in the elf dress design. The gown is deceivingly simple – so elegant! I play a lot of Dungeons and Dragons – the role-playing and backstories of the characters are my favorite part – and I have an elf character who will be wearing that gown in my mind whenever she is at home in her Keep.

I know you probably aren’t into D&D but bards are musicians/entertainers/magic-users who are usually fairly flamboyant in personality – charming, witty, etc. I’d love an outfit I could imagine my female bard wearing. She likes midnight blue, indigo, biolet, lilac, and silver. She’s a very “girly girl” type, but not into revealing, low-cut clothes.

I will understand completely if you don’t ever draw a bard outfit, but you might want to think about D&D designs. A lot like LOTR stuff, but more types of characters (unless you look at 4.0 info because they streamlined the game and cut a bunch of types – my bard for example).

Please keep posting your designs. They are a joy to see.

    ~Cindy

  • By Twizzler, November 12, 2009 @ 3:06 pm

Liana…Your website inspired me to start my own paper doll website, but I’m only good at drawing the clothes. May I use a template drawn off one of your dolls? I linked your website to mine and would give you credit for drawing the doll. I wanted to ask you before I did.

  • By Matty, November 15, 2009 @ 9:58 pm

  • By Skye, December 27, 2009 @ 12:32 pm

Your work is absolutely gorgeous! Do you do anything in 3-D graphics? I ask because these sort of things would look fabulous on IMVU, a 3-D social networking site I belong to. Most of the members are female and we shop our little hearts out, and these are exactly the sort of clothes I would buy. Check out the site at http://www.imvu.com if you are interested at all. You could earn Credits (IMVU currency) which can then be transferred into real cash for your work. It’s just SO lovely, there are so many of these dresses I’d adore to have for my own avatar. :)

  • By emily, January 20, 2010 @ 7:25 pm

Wow! Your designs are amazing! You draw very well, and I wish I could draw that good! I was just wondering if I could re-draw one of your creations, possibly? I’d of course give you credit!

  • By Bernadette, January 29, 2010 @ 9:49 pm

Is Liana okay? Are you going to make any new dresses? They are soooo pretty! You have amazing coloring skills. Do you use prismacolors?

Hi, I love your designs! Their AWESOME!!! I especially loved the design you did for Bella’s wedding dress & The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian design. I am a big fan of the Twilight series & have read them about 3 times each, & I’ve also read the Chronicles of Narnia over & over &… well you get the idea, but there both AWESOME!!! I was just wondering if you’d mind doing a few more Narnian dresses? Did you like the films?

    Liana, your paperdolls rock!!

  • By Roberta, February 26, 2010 @ 2:58 am

I love your paper dolls and the beautiful gowns you create. You are extremely talented and creative. I am so happy I found your site. I check almost every day to see if there is a new gown for Ivy.

I know you are constantly coming up with new ideas and giving us something new, but I was just wondering if you might consider redrawing some of the Sylvia’s gowns for Ivy.

Again I truly love your site and I am so thankful that you share your talent. I hope you will continue to create new gowns and dolls for a long long time.
